Kanjira / Konnokol

For those who do not know, I'm not only bass player ... I also play, with as much pleasure, guitar, piano and kanjira. In this page, I would like to share with you my passion for the kanjira.

Quick presentation: kanjira is a small percussion native to southern India, consisting of a wooden frame with a lizard skin. But like the skins of these animals are now protected, the current kanjira are synthetic.

It is used primarily to accompany classical music, "Carnatic music", but is found more and more as a solo instrument (which is mostly what interests me). The Indians have the most developed system of rhythm, the most complex and most interesting ...! You have for some years of work with this little tambourine.
