Finger stretching
A good exercises for your warm up.
This lesson if for beginner, it talk about right hand technique. You should alternate index and middle finger.
Warm up exercises for the fingers.
First lesson for 3 finger technique (index 1 – middle 2 – ring 3).
Second part of 3 finger lesson.
This famous lick from the famous video game is an excellent exercise rhythm. My advice is first to listen the song for the rhythm, you can even sing it. The notes are played "staccato", very short. For the fingerings, the left hand is detailed in slow and fast speed.
Denver le dernier dinosaure - theme
A theme of a famous cartoon.
It's very interesting to work this song because there is a lot of small details like slides, vibrato...if you have a fretless,
it's time to work your intonation.

The main riff of The Jackson 5 hit, "I want you back".
This lick is in Ab major (Ab Bb C Db Eb F G Ab). The rhythm is very interesting, typical of this style of music: dense with good placement of silences.
You should work very slowly. The left hand and right hand are detailed on video in slow speed.
A brilliant lick from a brilliant bass player: Paul Jackson, on the album "Headhunters" Herbie Hancock, released in 1973, it's the song "Chameleon" which opens the album.
All notes are played staccato, short. This riff is playing very fat, it's very funky!!
Who has never heard the classic theme when it opens this famous software?
This theme in D major (2 sharps) is very easy to remember. It is interesting to work because he mixes melody and chords.
You will notice the right hand using the thumb, index finger and middle finger, like the guitarists

To the bass, Duff Mc Kagan with his Fender signature bass.
This lick must be played with a pick, and in the higher register. The bass is very forward, making it almost a solo.
Funk bass - style Hadrien Feraud
This young french bass player deserved to be included in this category. Here is a groove inspired by the master, and for those of you interested, I highly recommend his first solo album.
This plan is particularly challenging! The sound a little strange is obtained through many chromatism. It therefore falls outside the pattern of standard scales. The signature is 4/4 and 5/4. The solo passage in sextuplets requires a great coordination between right and left hand. You should work very very slowly, and with the metronome of course!
Funk bass - style Hadrien Feraud (II)
Continue with a second lick in the style of Hadrien Feraud.
This is not going to surprise if I tell you the lick, in 7/4, must be played very quickly, to 145 in sixteenths. Based on the pentatonic minor, this unusual pattern requires large space from the left hand, but the result is rather interesting. Work as long as possible, you will work your endurance.

As these plans have pleased a lot of people, I will propose a third.

This great master of the 4 strings is known for his virtuosity and musicality. He plays on his Dean signature bass through a Markbass signature amplifier.

Here my new composition, « sables mouvants ». I play on a Fender Victor Bailey acoustic bass. There is a lot of melodic arpeggio and the rhythm is like quicksand (« Sables mouvants » in French).
